Subject:   email account setup in Thunderbird.

I have a problem.

I have set up two email accounts on my web host server.
I can log into them via web mail.
In web mail I can view and send messages.

On my desktop I am unable to view or send messages via my web host.

I am not being blocked by the ADSL modem. I've worked through that and 
unblocked the required ports.

The accounts are SSL

Thunderbird reports contacting the mail server, seeks approval to trust 
the certificate, and then requests the password for the account. After I 
enter the password it is rejected.

The password I enter is correct, it is exactly the same as the one I 
allocated when creating the account and it works for WebMail.

I feel that there is something fundamental that I have not done.

It is SSL, do I need to create an encryption file or whatever? And if 
so, How?

I have created a public and private key for the webhost, do I need to do 
the same for my laptop.

And will I need different keys for each computer on my home network?

Subject:   USB printers

Hi,

Is there any way to get a printer working in eCS when connected to a USB 
port?  I have a motherboard that doesn't have a parallel port and have 
tried using a cable that connects the USB port to the parallel connector 
on the printer but although I've installed the driver to ? recognize the 
USB port, I can't print. Have resurrected an older computer in the meantime.

yes, it works most of the time, I have used Lexmark OPtra E312L laser;
it had both parallel and USB, I had USB plugged into Warp 4, parallel into
XP;

but, the USB printer driver would work then refuse to,

eventually, I swapped cables, now, OS/2 prints to paralle, XP to USB

If yes, dont try the convertors, rather buy a parrallel port PCI card 
for the machine.

I think I misread the original email, I thought the printer was USB

Ed, what's wrong with converters ?

fwiw, earlier today I've attempted to transfer a HP 2100 LPT from LPT to a
new PC, USB only (both PCs windoze XP)

so, when I connected the HP to USB using USB 2 metre extension, plus,
Belkin USB/parallel, the printer went off line every time anythings was
printed.

eventually, I've moved the printer back to the old PC with parallel, it
worked OK

hence, I'm curious of any known problems with the USB/LPT gizmos

I have a Kyocera FS-820 laser which will print via USB or parallel 
running under ECS 2.0 RC4

OOo was designed for a PC with 64MB of ram. Increase the amount of RAM
available to it and it flies. Ideally this should be automatic, but it's
not. In OOo go into Tools - Options - OpenOffice dot org - Memory and multiply
the amount of RAM required by 10 (or more if you are feeling benevolent).
That works fine for me, just as speedy as it was on release 1.

I did this for the following options in the Memory panel Graphics Cache and
yes it works:
99Mb for the cache, 24Mb per object, remove after 10 minutes and 200
inserted objects.
