If you've got an ISA slot (current Optiplexes do not), better to get an aftermarket ISA floppy card that supports high density, rather than the original PC-XT version, which will not support the high density 1.44/1.2 media. There were many such cards, most with their own BIOS support (you can probably disable that if the card is well-behaved).
