It's in the carriage box of a dot-matrix printer.  Definitely
sound-deadening, as I've seen the same model, only earlier production,
without foam.  I'll just clean the old stuff off and otherwise leave things
alone.   Better bare metal than another round of some deteriorating
substance later.
