I learnt years ago the benefits of a toolkit upstairs, to save going down 
and up again when I need to tighten a door handle, or something :-)

I have a minimal tookit (flat blade, Phillips, Pozidriv, Torx, Allen 
keys) upstairs, my full computer-repair kit downstairs, and the car 
repair tools in the garage. There's some overlap between the last 2, but 
if I'm say, rebuilding a teleprinter motor I will hapily go out to the 
garage to get the 3-legged puller and a spanner to fit it. I don't 
duplicate those in the computer toolkit.
