That's kind of funny!  I've been looking at the same topic recently.

I'm also in the process of scanning several books I found at the local 
university.
Burning in my new "plustek OpticBook 3600" book scanner.  I'll let you 
know when
I'm done.

I purchased some neon bulbs on ebay this weekend.  Though from what I 
have been
reading, 'trigger tubes' are probably better.  They are 3 terminal 
devices that are more
like a relay or transistor.  Actually, they are some times referred to 
as 'relay tubes'.
