Tygon is the clear tubing you might find in a chemistry lab.
I don't think the clear stuff at the hardware store is Tygon.

Around here, the (dairy) farm supply stores carry a wider 
assortment of tubing than the hardware stores.  

Where did you find latex tubing?  A medical-ish source?
