A couple of the proteus newsletters (towards the end of the run) review the 
product.  I know the first review said that the beta version wasn't working 
100%, but that the designer (bob hogg) was still working out the kinks.

Without documentation it is hard to know for sure, but they are 50 pin 
connectors.  I'm not sure why there are two of them, as I would have expected 
the usual daisy chain connection if there were two external drives.  I suspect 
that this machine was last used in the late 80s, and whatever hardware it was 
paired with at the time is now long gone.
