Can't tell you how to remove the battery, since I don't have a 1520. 
As far as replacement, if you can't find it on E-bay, you'll need to
build a pack.  I've found that for gridpads at least, your best bet is
to crack open the dead pack and replace the cells with NiMH's of the
same size (but, of course, greater capacity).  Ten 2/3AA NiMH
batteries will set you back a whole $20.

The CMOS battery is tougher, since, IIRC, it's a 3.6V stack of NiCd
coins, which I've never even seen available separately.  A 3.5V
lithium battery would probably do the job, but would cost $20 by
itself.  Or you could build a stack of three 1.5V coins and risk
over-voltage.
