Yep.  And the military continued buying tubes for radio equipment
through most of the 1980's.  Many of the excesses are making their
way to the surplus market... look at the datestamps on JAN tubes
showing up NOS NIB on E-bay.

The military still buys microwave/high-power/CRT tubes of course.
