I know what you mean, I'm *just* finally starting to understand how 
to go direct to what I want.  For example 
http://www.hp.com/go/openvms/ takes you to the main page, while 
http://www.hp.com/go/openvms/doc/ takes you to the above URL.

If all else fails, http://www.openvms.compaq.com still gets you to 
the main page (it's how I've been getting there).
