YEs, but the only useable OSes for PCs happen to be multitasking...
And I have little enough space here that I really don't want to have to
set up another machine just to image disks. If I did that, it certainly
wouldn't be a PC, and wouldn't have a 765 as the disk controller.

The WD controllers are no worse for doing what most people want than the
765. It's therefore a pity IBM picked the 'wrong one' for the first PC.
Actually, I think I have a PC-not-quite-comptible here with a 2793 in it (!).
