Yeah, but those are both more work than desoldering the RAM and testing 
it 'by hand'....

I was wondering if there was a 'gotcha' of the form 'if port <foo> is 
stuck low, then the thing will go crazy waiting for it to go high'. 
Admittedly all the inputs I've checked look to be in the right state.
