Sort of. Tied to running Linux though, rather than being a free implementation 
that can also allow other OSes to run. Still, booting your PC to a full 
multitasking OS in a couple of seconds is still pretty nifty.

Afraid I don't have bookmarks handy (I read about all of this in passing a few 
months ago), but a google for "Linux BIOS" should turn up some useful links.

I seem to remember that when you get down to it, it's surprising how many 
tweaks need to be made in order to support a reasonable range of motherboards.
