PCFILEC.TXT

PC-FILE SCREEN 1

You wont see it advertised in Computer Stores, but PC-File is an excellent
user friendly "ShareWare" Database Manager. PAYROLL CANADA produces output
which can be imported into PC-File and here we will show you how.

PC-FILE SCREEN 2

There are 3 files from PAYROLL CANADA, one for basic information, one for the
income items, and one for the deductions. We had to split them because
PC-File has a limit on how many fields are allowed per record. We put common
key ID information in each of them so you can link them together. Here we are
selecting PAYPCFBS, just to get to the PC-File Menu.

PC-FILE SCREEN 3

Here is the PC-File main menu. Notice that PAYPCFBS presently has 0 records,
which is because we have not yet imported the .DIF file. To do that we
select F8 Utilities.

PC-FILE SCREEN 4

We select 6 Import

PC-FILE SCREEN 5

Tell PC-File where to look for the input file. (This particular version of
PC-FILE does not ask for directory information so set the correct directory
for the source disk with the DOS CD command before using PC-File)

PC-FILE SCREEN 6

PC-File will display all files on that disk and ask you to give it the name of
the input (PAYPCFBS.DIF)

PC-FILE SCREEN 7

PC-File asks where to look for the .HDR file. PAYBATCH.COM will have created
that on the same drive:\directory\ as the .DIF file.

PC-FILE SCREEN 8

PC-File displays all the .HDR files and we select the one with the same name as
the .DIF file.

PC-FILE SCREEN 9

PC-File asks us what format the input is in. We select 3 DIF.

PC-FILE SCREEN 10

PC-File has done the import and returned us to the main menu. Note that
PAYPCFBS now has 10 records. All PC-File facilities are now available to use
with the file. We will select F4 DIS and look at the first record.

PC-FILE SCREEN 11

This is the first record of Basic Information. You may repeat the preceding
steps to import the other two files.

PC-FILE SCREEN 12

This is the first record of Income Information.

PC-FILE SCREEN 13

This is the first record of the Deductions file (which also contains the net,
expense and accruals, etc.).
