  Micro/RSX Installation/Backup Procedure

This is the Micro/RSX installation and backup procedure.
You can use this procedure to either:

            I -- Install your Micro/RSX operating system
                 for the first time

B -- Back up files from the fixed disk

R -- Restore files to the fixed disk

            D -- Duplicate diskettes

Type I for install, B for back up, R for restore, or
D for duplicate, then press the RETURN key.

Which do you want to do? I

  Micro/RSX Installation Procedure

Welcome to the Micro/RSX installation procedure.

         The installation consists of:

o Preparing the fixed disk for use

o Copying your Micro/RSX operating system from
the diskettes to the fixed disk

o Starting up your Micro/RSX operating system
               on the fixed disk

These three steps will take about 30 minutes.

To continue, press the RETURN key...

The first step is preparing the fixed disk for use.

This will take about 4 minutes. The terminal will beep
         when done.

You might want to take this time to read the next three
         sections in the installation guide:

The Micro/RSX Installation Procedure -- What Is It?

            Logging in to Micro/RSX

            Correcting Possible Errors

         Please wait...

The preparation of the fixed disk is complete.

The next step is copying your Micro/RSX operating system
from the diskettes to the fixed disk.

Find the six diskettes labeled OPERATING SYSTEM and
         the diskette labeled HELP FILES.

The diskette labeled EXTENDED ERROR LOGGING is not needed
         at this time.

When you have the seven diskettes, press the RETURN key...

You will be guided through this part of the installation
by instructions on this terminal. All you need to do is
follow them carefully when they appear.

You will be asked to insert the first diskette into
drive 2 and to wait while the contents of the diskette
are copied to the fixed disk.

Then you will be asked to remove that diskette and
         insert the next one.

You will be asked to repeat this sequence until all
         seven diskettes have been copied.

To continue reading, press the RETURN key...

Insert and remove diskettes from drive 2 only. Do not
remove the installation diskette in drive 1.

For the FLOOR-STAND model, drive 2 is the right-hand
         drive.

For the RACK-MOUNT or TABLE-TOP model, drive 2 is the
         bottom drive.

Before opening the drive door to remove or insert a
diskette, make sure both active drive lights are off
         and both drives are quiet.

To continue reading, press the RETURN key...

Insert the first diskette, labeled OPERATING SYSTEM 1 OF 6,
         into drive 2 as follows:

         1. ALIGN the orange arrow on the diskette with the orange bar
on drive 2. Note that this alignment is OPPOSITE from the
way you inserted the installation diskette in drive 1.

         2. For the FLOOR-STAND model, make sure the diskette label
faces right and the write-protect tab is up.

For the RACK-MOUNT or TABLE-TOP model, make sure the diskette
label faces down and the write-protect tab is on the right.

         3. SLIDE the diskette into drive 2 and CLOSE the door gently.

When you have inserted the diskette, press the RETURN key...

Thank you. Now copying the first diskette to the fixed
         disk.

This will take a little more than 1 minute.

         Please wait...

That diskette is copied. Please remove it and insert
         the second diskette, labeled

               OPERATING SYSTEM 2 OF 6

         into drive 2.

When you have inserted the diskette, press the RETURN key...
