University of Toronto Computing Services Communications and Small Services DECUS Symposium Submissions 1981/08/02 PASCAL Software Tools The two programs in this area are Pascal programs which operate on other Pascal programs in ways useful for program development. They have been compiled under OMSI Pascal 1.1 or 1.2 and use no external routines. The first is a very nice Pascal program formatter. It is taken from the book "Pascal With Style" by Ledgard, et al. Hayden publishers. Unlike other copies of this program in circulation, this copy has been run through itself, i.e, reformatted to the standard to which it formats other programs! The contents of the book are copyright but I have on file a letter from Mr Ledgard giving permission to distribute the program for non-profit use. The second program is MAP, a MAcro processor for Pascal. This was described in Software Practice and Experience, Vol ? # ?. The text of the program was published in Pascal News. The MAP processor gives such features as compile-time constant expression evaluation, file inclusion, and a generalized macro facility with arguments as well as conditional compilation. One or two problems remain: INCLUDE files cannot have filename extentions. Both programs were keyboarded at UTCS by Teri Kusy, and made operational and modified slightly by Ian Darwin. They are, as is usual with DECUS, distributed without warranty.
