The Server Power Failure alarm is generated when the server loses power completely. Note that the alarm will not show up until the server comes back on line and the HP Remote Assistant SNMP agent is loaded.
This alarm indicates that the server has lost power:
Also check that the power control cable did not come loose and that the red reset button on the HP Remote Assistant board is pushed in.

Normally, the Automatic Graceful Shutdown alarm is generated when the server temperature measured by the server's HP Remote Assistant Card, TopTools Remote Control Card, or Integrated RA, has exceeded the configured threshold value and the server has been automatically shut down. For the TopTools Remote Control Card or Integrated Remote Assistant, this may also happen when an over or under voltage condition occurs. Note that the SNMP alarm will not show up until the server comes back on line and the remote solution SNMP agent is loaded.
Caution For servers with the HP TopTools Remote Control Card, or Integrated RA, if the remote control agent is not running on the server when this event is generated, the server will not initiate a graceful shutdown. The remote control agent is installed on the server from the agent installation program available on the HP NetServer Navigator CD.
This event may indicate one of the following conditions:
Note The default threshold is set for a typical server operating environment.

The Temperature Critical Shutdown alarm is generated when the server temperature measured on the HP Remote Assistant board has exceeded the configured Graceful Shutdown threshold value by 5 degrees C and the server has been automatically shut down. The purpose of the Critical Shutdown is to prevent server component damage when the Graceful Shutdown does not occur fast enough (i.e., the temperature rises an additional 5 degrees C before the Graceful Shutdown completes). Note that the alarm will not show up until the server comes back on line and the HP Remote Assistant SNMP agent is loaded.

Seconds since last heartbeat |
When ASR is enabled, the ASR software installed on the server periodically notifies the HP Remote Assistant that the system is running correctly (heartbeat). If the server crashes or hangs, the heartbeat will cease. The Warning NOS Hang alarm is generated if the heartbeat stops for longer than the configured timeout and HP Remote Assistant is NOT configured to restart on NOS hang. Note that the alarm will not show up until the server is reset and comes back on line, and the HP Remote Assistant SNMP agent is loaded.
If the NOS hangs repeatedly, it may indicate a problem with server memory (parity errors), an I/O card, or a software module. For more detailed information on the cause of the hang, use HP Remote Assistant's Console Redirection feature to view the contents of the server's screen before rebooting. Also, check the Remote Assistant event log and the Event Log for any critical server events leading up to the hang.

The Bus Utilization Threshold Warning alarm is generated when the 5-minute average EISA bus utilization exceeds the configured threshold value.
Consistently high EISA bus utilization may indicate an I/O performance bottleneck. If the CPU utilization, as measured by the NOS, is also high, you should upgrade the current server or move some users to another server. If the CPU utilization is typically low, consider upgrading the ISA or EISA network interface cards or disk controllers to PCI. Use HP Remote Assistant's EISA Bus Utilization History feature to help identify peak utilization periods and correlate them with particular applications or users.

A remotely logged-in user powered up the system using the power on feature of the server's HP Remote Assistant Card, TopTools Remote Control Card, or Integrated RA. The server's front panel power switch must be in the ON state to do this.
The Remote Assistant automatically powered down the system because of a critical situation, for example, a critical voltage or temperature. This action occurred because it was previously configured to do so by the RA configuration utility. The critical situation itself should have been noted in a previous log entry.
The server was powered down by someone using the server's front panel switch.

This message is generated when TopTools Remote Control Card starts (or restarts). During normal use this should only appear following a power up or reset (e.g. after firmware update) of the controller. It can also be caused by a watchdog reset or other serious error in the controller. The card's watchdog circuitry monitors the card to ensure that it doesn't hang. If the card hangs, the watchdog circuitry will, after a specific waiting period, reset the card in an effort to clear the problem. If you receive this message a lot, and you or some other remote user hasn't been resetting the card on purpose, you should contact your HP represenative.
