readme.1st RT-11/TSX-Plus System Timing Spring 1987 DECUS


This submission contains 231 data files generated while doing the RT-11/
TSX-Plus System Timing tests that were described in the session by that name
at the Spring 1987 DECUS Symposium in Nashville TN. It also contains the
following files:

README.1ST This file.

SYSTIM.TXT A short writeup describing the original reasons for
the tests, what was tested, the format of the data
files, how the data files are named and some cau-
tions about the data.

SYTTSX.COM The command file used to generate a set of data files
under TSX-Plus.
SYTR23.COM The command file used to generate a set of data files
on the 11/23 system under RT-11.
SYTR23.COM The command file used to generate a set of data files
on the 11/73 system under RT-11.

SYTHST.BAS The RT-11/BASIC-Plus used to generate the histograms
shown in the Symposium presentation.
SYTSUM.BAS The RT-11/BASIC-Plus used to generate the summaries
shown in the Symposium presentation.

SUMTIM.LST Summary of the 176 data files common to all tests (see
SYSTIM.TXT); includes average, median, minimum and
maximum times for each test.
SUMAVG.LST One page summary of the average times for the 176 data
files common to all tests.
SUMMED.LST One page summary of the median times for the 176 data
files common to all tests.
