For xproof to work properly, appropriate fonts should be available to
the X server, and font-description files must be stored in the
standard place that typesetter-independant troff looks for them.

This directory contains some fonts appropriate for previewing troff
output. They should be placed in the directory where the X server
looks for fonts (/usr/misc/lib/X/font at Wisconsin).

The fonts currently provided are
	B6.onx B8.onx B10.onx B12.onx I6.onx I8.onx I10.onx I12.onx
	R4.onx R5.onx R6.onx R7.onx R8.onx R9.onx R10.onx R11.onx
	R12.onx R14.onx R16.onx R18.onx R20.onx R22.onx R24.onx S4.onx
	S6.onx S8.onx S10.onx S11.onx S12.onx SS4.onx SS6.onx SS8.onx
	SS10.onx SS12.onx SS14.onx

In addition to the fonts themselves, xproof requires descriptions
of the fonts. The descriptions go where troff would look for
descriptions of a device named 'x' (/usr/misc/lib/font/devx at
Wisconsin). Since the layout of the supplied fonts is the same
as the layout used in the Adobe Systems Postscript fonts (used
in the Apple Laserwriter and other printers), it is sufficient to
make 'devx' a symbolic link to 'devpsc' in FONTDIR (see ../Makefile).

These fonts are still far from perfect, but they are usable.
Known problems:
o	The fonts are not very pretty, even allowing for the difficulty of producing
reasonable fonts at this low resolution. In particular, the character
widths do not correspond very well to the widths expected by troff,
	so spacing will look strange.
o	There should be more point sizes, particularly in bold and italic faces
o	Not all of the special characters available in the Postscript fonts
	appear in these fonts.
o	Not all conceivable characters that may appear in your document are
available in these fonts. In particular, only the ligatures fi and fl
appear, so if your document was produced for a device (-T flag to troff)
that supports other ligatures (troff also 'knows about' ff, ffi, and ffl),
	your output will look funny.
o	There should be a bold-italic face. There should also be many more
font families (these fonts approximate the 'Times' family). In particular,
there should be a full set of 'typewriter' (fixed-width) fonts.
If anybody would like to volunteer to build more fonts (or fix these), I'd
love to hear about it.

This directory also contains some of the fonts distributed with the X window
system. So far as I know, these are all the fonts that are generally used
for anything, so you may want simply to replace the X font directory
with the contents of this directory.

Fixed-width fonts used in "glass-tty" applications (e.g. xterm):
	6x10.onx 6x13.onx 6x13p.onx 8x13.onx 9x15.onx
A tiny tiny font used in icons:
	nil2.onx
A few other popular fonts:
	troman10.onx vtbold.onx vtsingle.onx
