PREFACE
.LP
This Adaptive Generic Unix Manual describes a Unix system
geared to operate unattended for long periods of time with a
high degree of reliability.
Gun, as it is called,
approaches these objectives by keeping the
size of the kernel do a minimum.
The base code is the Seventh Edition Unix,
the last widely released version from the inventors of Unix.
To this a small amount of code was added for specific needs
and
a large amount of code was added for networking.
The networking code as lifted,
almost untouched,
from the Tahoe release from UCB.
