Welcome to the the OPEN LOOK and XView Source and Documentation CD-ROM!

We've organized an online tour using HTML to allow you to browse it with
Mosaic, Netscape, TkWWW, or your favorite Web viewer. If you are on the
Internet, this will also allow you to follow links to the outside, of which
there are some scattered throughout the tour.

Without some kind of HTML browswer, it will be hard to follow the HTML
tour, so you should instead work your way through the files in a
conventional UNIX way: use the 'ls' command, or a file manager...
Most of the HTML files can be read as raw text (with "more", for
example), if you're willing to overlook some words in angle brackets.

Before you start the HTML Tour, you may need to tell your Web Viewer about
certain file types. For Mosaic, the files in the WebHelpers directory can be
added to your .mime.types and .mailcap file, or can be used to create
those files. For other browswers, you may need to enter this information
manually in a "Helper Applications" dialog.

To get started, mount the CD using the Rock Ridge Extentions (if they
are optional on your UNIX), and cd to the CD's top directory.

Then, just run the shell script TOUR from that directory.
It will ask you a few questions and try to start the tour.

Alternately, if your browswer is already fully configured, you can
just launch your browser and point it at /index.html (relative to the
CD-ROM) or /README.html (they're the same file).

If you don't have either Mosaic or NetScape, you can pick them up via FTP
from ftp.ncsa.uiuc.edu or ftp.mcom.com respectively. We cannot ship these
due to copyright restrictions. We ship a copy of an experimental browser
called Arena, which is adequate for some parts of the tour.
We also include the source for tkwww (in /src/tk/WWW relative to the CD;
you need to have tk already installed to build this.

Once you're ready, open README.html and start Touring!
