LA(I) 7/4/75 LA(I)

NAME
la - peruse a file [la stands for "look at"]

SYNOPSIS
	la file
[or a <PUT><RETURN> while using proto; see PROTO(I)]

DESCRIPTION
La is a program that lets one casually peruse a disk file. It is
a more robust alternative than "l file" and is built into proto.

The commands are mostly the single-key ones used by re (la
runs in raw mode). To see the list of commands, use:
la /doc/la.cmnds (sceptics may use cat, l, re, etc!).

When la starts, it prints "(size=xxx)" where "xxx" is the number
of bytes in the file and then displays the first page of the file.

SEE ALSO
	proto(I) for proto/la interface
	/doc/la.cmnds for command summary

DIAGNOSTICS
Very few. La completely ignores unreasonable requests (such as
moving beyond the ends of the file) and complains if it doesn't
recognize a command. Note: it runs in noecho mode and only types
back at you what it wants to!

BUGS
and all complaints/questions/comments/etc. should be sent to:
	Bob Greenberg [bobg].
