Hi Leigh,

I don't think that it will be very long indeed, although I seem to have
found out a bug in Beta4, whereby, (possibly by selecting inclusion of
eSchemes?), all the primary root folders, with the exception of the
Desktop/Maintenance Desktop and a few others, and sub-folders of those -
all open in tree-view with "SHOWALLINTREEVIEW=YES;" which means that
when clicking on a "+" in a WPS tree-view, in addition to
non-hidden/system files in the root showing up in the container, all the
files in that folder, and all other expanded folders also as included,
and the scroll-bar slider shrinks to a mere fraction of its normal
size! All those that have a new class of WPFolderEx, AFAICT.

One can only imagine how long it takes for a folder containing e.g.
5,000 *.mp3 files to become populated in tree-view!
I'm just about to do another test-install with that item deselected to
verify my suspicions.

Regards,
Mike

Presently testing eComStation Beta4 - in non-SMP mode everything appears
to be production ready. I have heard there will most likely be a release
candidate 1 and if that is OK, then the GA release. My Crystal ball
suggests on this basis, release mid-year - but that's just my opinion -
I have not heard anything official.

I have Warpin-1-0-14 installed and have installed other *.wpi programs
with it but it won't install the wvgui1.01.wpi program.
I went to the German site and downloaded the zip file and installed
Warpvision but it doesn't work. When I try to open a *.wmv file or an
*.mp3 file I only get a black screen.
As the instructions said, I have put the npwv.dll file in the mozilla
plugins folder.
I have also downloaded wincodecs and system.ini from netlabs but the
readme says that wincodecs has to be copied to <ODIN_DIR>SYSTEM32 and
I don't know how to install ODIN as I'm not sure which file I need to
download.

First of all, is it possible that you are simply clicking on the WPI
file and it's not installing ? If so change the name to take out the
excess dots - e.g. rename it to WVGUI101.wpi and I think you'll be fine.

On to Warp Vision - to play video files (including some DVDs) the os/2
native components do no require ODIN to be installed. However if you
wish to use video formats that are only supported through windows
Codecs, you do need to download the last full version of ODIN, install
it, then download the latest update build (a zip file) and unzip that
over the ODIN you installed. The wincodecs that you download for
WarpVision go into the ODIN\System32 directory.

While you can set up Mozilla based browsers to call WarpVision using
npwv.dll, however I find better approach is to down load the firefox
extention (an XPI file) called Mediaplayerconnectivity, version 0.8.3 or
later. In this extention you can select which program you want to use
for each of the common media formats.

And last but not least, always delete video2.ini before upgrading
WarpVision to the latest version.

Cheers/2

Hi Alan

Further to what Ed has stated re Odin, if you have Open Office v1.x
or other Innotek items such as Java, you might have a directory called
'Innowin' on your harddrive somewere. This is a slightly customised
version of Odin, and if you do have this directory, DO NOT install
odin, simply check that there is a subdirectory called \innowin\system32,
if so copy the codecs to there, and either copy or add the provided
system.ini entry's/file to the innowin directory.

ie, my innowin directory is 'D:\innowin\system32', and this was/is
used by OpenOffice, Acrobat Reader, and Java v1.4.x from
Innotek.

I also added D:\innowin\system32 to both my path and dpath in config.sys

So this will work with Innowin as well ? I've often thought if we could
avoid having to install both it'd be great, of course ODIN is far more
up to date than Innowin, so there are a lot of Win32 applications that
work with ODIN but not Innowin.

Works here, so does updating Innowin with the files from Odin :-)
Though your milage may vary due to the other programs you use
so the standard "backup before you do it" just in case applies.

Yes, but that doesn't corconvent the need to download the entire file before reproduction can begin, does it?

Or I'm I that terrible wrong?

But Innowin won't be updated anymore whereas Odin.exe is, I assume. Right/wrong?

Also I have in that innowin directory only 4 executables:

9-11-05 16:16 139.202 0 ---- uinst001.exe
9-07-04 13:43 30.086 0 ---- iwquery.exe
9-07-04 13:43 33.234 0 ---- tzconfig.exe
9-10-98 15:45 306.688 0 ---- IsUninst.exe

So it isn't at all clear, at least to me, how on Earth I have to start a win app from there.

Yes! that worked, although I had already downloaded the zip file and
installed it.

I downloaded and installed ODIN via the warpin installer. I can't seem
to get any update later than the 2005-06-26 zip, so installed that, I
think (as an error message came up at the end saying that a file

Have copied the wincodecs into the ODIN\System32 directory.
?? How does Warpvision or Mplayer or KMP use the wincodecs?

Downloaded and installed it but then Firefox2 wouldn't start and I had
to reinstall it.
However even though I selected the Warpvision program in the configure
window for Windows media it wouldn't play selected *.wmv files

As WarpVision is not being developed any further I don't think I'll have
to worry.

BTW K Movie Player works quite well but won't play DVD's.

Indeed, but nevertheless that file tends to be corrupted rather sooner
than later, so you'll have to delete it anyway every now and then.

Thanks that works for now, but ...

given the fact it's in the directory

 D:\Acrobaat\Acrobaat51

where do I have to put the \system32 files? To begin with, there is no \system32 directory around (or better down) the Innotek directories.

Kris,

Make a System32 directory in the \programs\innowin tree or equivalent.

I would like you to advise to wait till the knowledgeables can manage to
give wome explanation at simple human being's level.

Anyway, as "ar5os.exe" seems to be the key file, there is no reason at
all to ditch Odin as we are sure for 100 % that file ar5os2.exe never
won't be updated anymore.
