Hi All,

Does anyone know how to read enhanced CD's in OS/2? I'm sure I could
many moons ago, but have forgotten how since the move to Ecs.

What are ECDs?? That is, what makes an enhanced CD different from any
other? This is new to me.

Hi Ed

Better late than never I s'pose, picking up this again. I guess what I
want to know then is, can I install Xworkplace 1.0.2 straight into eCS
v1.2.

I find the Yahoo groups very hard to navigate, and have never had any
success getting listed in any of the groups. It's probably all my
fault, but I do stress from time to time that I'm a real dummy. That
gives you some slight idea just how dumb!!

Thanx
Kev

AFAIK - you should deinstall eWorkPlace first by running
x:\ecs\system\ewps\install\deinst.cmd

While on the subject of CDs, does anyone know if the latest version of
RSJ can write .ISOs to CD? I have Tonigy which makes a mockery of
making .ISOs to start with, but can I use RSJ to write an.ISO to CD?
I've downloaded a couple of Libranet .ISOs and want to be able to make
up the CDs without having to use either Wintendo or Linux.

I have registered RSJ, but find setting up CDRecord too difficult and
confusing. I've loved life since the development of WarpIn, and can't
wait for ALL eCS software come that way.

Hey, there's a project for one of you budding techos out there. Bundle
up all the requirements for CDrecord and make a .WPI distro. And while
you're at it, add in CDBoot as well.

I'm getting off topic a bit here, but that would be a REALLY useful
thing for someone to do. Make .WPI distros of all sorts of software out
there for we non-technical dummies. I'm sure it would go part of the
way to keeping loyal users for a bit longer.

Any'ow, back off the soap box.

Thanx all (and one!)

Can anyone confirm that for me? I don't want to destroy my current of
eCS if I don't have to.

Thanx again

Sorry Kev, I haven't installed XWorkplace, I only remembered the conversations about some
complications of doing this on the eComStation list.

Does anyone else on this list remember what was said ??

Kev, although I have a full copy of RSJ and I think it will indeed do what you ask, I
use the following programs as my preference:

MKISOFS - for making ISO images of CDs or DVDs

CDRecord2 - to write CD-Rs

DVDDAO - to write DVD-Rs

The first two wrapped up with Audio-CD Creator to make them EXTREMELY easy to use.

All of the above are freeware.

Cheers/2

Ed.

Open CD View -> CD Recorder - drag drop ISO onto the recorder, click
record, cick finalise - done.

Paul.

So do I just drag and drop the .ISO file from the eCS Drives folder onto
the opened RSJ CDRecorder?

Yep - same as if you were dragging a wav file. Note this is covered
under FAQ in the manual for v5.05

Paul.

Oh wow!! How easy is that?? It took me a while to find the manual, but
I eventually downloaded the .PDF and now have an object for it in my RSJ
folder.

In the afforementioned FAQ it says,
"... This procedure is the same as with WAV and other audio files."

Does the "... other audio files." also refer to .MP3s? That is, can I
drag an .MP3 to the CD Recorder and it will copy as an audio CD track?
So far I can't make it so, but I may be doing it wrong

Cheers

I got an icon for the PDF when I installed...

v5.5x can handle .ogg files - don't think it can do mp3...

OK. I have v5.52 and it does .OGGs but not MP3s. Do you know how to
use Chris Wohlgemuth's CWMM classes to make the WPS play .MP3. I was
pondering whether or not RSJ would convert any sound format recognized
by the WPS. You already know how thick I am, so it needs to be easy.

Thanks again

You need the package from http://www.math.berkeley.edu/~roconnor/ in
order to have the wps play mp3's.

Not sure - but don't think this helps you with RSJ...

Cheers,

Paul.
