Ed,
according to me vague recollection, *all* HP scanners were SCSI (and, all worked with OS/2,
whether with Galleria, CopyShop, Applause, CFMTwain, Impos etc.

and, even Imara Scan Tool (a trully attrocious app)

Sorry guys, Copyshop/2 _only_ handles scsi devices.

The HP5p IS A scsi device.
The HP 5100c IS A parallel port device.

Stop dreaming.

now that I think of it, the HP-supplied SCSI card had a DB25 connector, not unlike, a,
whatchmacalit, yes, parallel printer port.

and, if memory serves me right, HP supplied also a DB25 to Amphenol connector, again, not unlike, a,
whatchmacalit, yes, parallel printer cable.

I suspect that's how the confusion arose.

make it a fond HP vintage scanner expert, OK ?

hmmmm, with cars, we have, what, veteran, vintage after, is it...? 25/15 years ??

how shall we delinate old computer gear ? rather than junk ?

I'm still using my ancient 2P with, (bless you Paul Balme for adding ADF support!!!) ADF.

If I recall, the ADF alone cost like... about A$1200.

but, a HP scanner with ADF with CS/2 and PMfax, what a trio !

I saw one in a junk shop the other day, I might buy it for a spare.

The scanner has a SCSI card. I thought the large connector was to a parallel port.

The HP4p and 4c scanners do have a centronics as well as a db25
"outlet". The db 25 was in the first place meant for the MAC systems.

_ALL_ HP scanners are vintage now. The devices now put on the market by
Compaq (disguised as HP-new) are Avision scanners (disguised as
HP-scanners).

Your HP4 has a centronics (// port) as well as a db 25 outlet. You can
use both outlets, provided the scsi-cable has a suitable connection to
the scsi card.
