Give us the website reference please.

The usual way is to use real player 8 via ODIN, however as Voytek says WarpMedia can play "some"
RP formats.

Cheers/2

Hi all!

I have an opportunity to grab a HP ScanJet 5100C model for $50.

As I read the SANE docs, this is a parallel port model fully supported by the
SANE/TAME software.

Can anyone offer advice or experience in using this model please?

Best regards

Hi Michael.

Is that "Dig"? <http://www.abc dot net dot au/dig> (or at least it was.).

I had no trouble picking it up with the Real Player that came with eCs
1.0. Haven't tried lately.

However, another good test is <http://www.jazz.fm>. I had a lot of
enjoyment from that, although there were times when memory constraints
stopped transmission for a while. If that works, maybe the ABC should too.

Hope this helps.

Make that SANE software.

As we are talking about OS/2, the only parallel port devices having been
reported to work are Medion MD9890 and Mustek SE6000S (medion is the
very same Mustek btw).

Meaning, it _might_ work, but as you'll be the first one to try, you'll
be a guinea pig completely at his own.

Nevertheless, good luck and I wish you'll make it.

SANE on Linux will support it for sure, however the OS/2 port is known to have some
"issues" with Parrallel Port connected scanners. You may be lucky though, and for $50
it's probably worth a shot !

Don't know this model. I have used a HP 4P parallel port scanner with OS/2 for years. Runs well with
Copyshop 2.

Subject: Java 1.41

Hi,

I have installed Golden Code's Java 1.41. Seems to be working OK. I was able to access CBA's netbank as
usual but haven't any other Java Programs to try as yet.
I didn't download gcd-java-141-docs.zip or unzip.exe as Mozilla didn't know how to handle them as they were
in binary form. I don't know whether they are of any value. Perhaps someone can advise me.
Also the instructions advise to disable any other OJI Plugin that exists in the browser's plugin directory, so I
moved the following to another directory:

nparos2.dll
npulos2.dll
npoji6.dll
npswf2.dll
zip.dll

I have left the file jvm.dll in \plugin\client\ as I didn't know whether it was a OJI plugin. Also REM'd out the
SET CLASSPATH statement in Config.sys as suggested.
Have I done right?

Regards

Alan Duval

Copyshop/2 can't handle parallel port scanners.

Aren't you getting confused with JavaScript?

I use netbank and I do not see any applets that would require real Java.

Hi John,
Don't touch parallel-port scanners with a barge-pole.
Nothing but trouble & the lpt interface really is too slow for the
amount of data throughput, Oh, good luck trying to get a printer working
through it too ;)

I might update my HP 4c & 5p scanners, both are for sale.
Full support provided to get you going.

The 5p has_never_been_used. It came from a customer's site & still
contained a sheet of packaging paper on the glass under the lid:- i.e.
it had never been used, although the exterior is slightly soiled.

I've even got the box for the 4c & will provide a better-than-original
ISA SCSI card with the unit. The original card was a CPU hog & I think I
threw it out.

I'm not using the Golden Code's Java plugin, as I'm running Mozilla
1.6, but, what you have sounds correct from when I did try it.

My test for Java in the browser is
<http://games.yahoo dot com/games/downloads/tx.html>. It works well with
Innotek's Java. As does the St George Bank's internet banking.
