Not necessarily. I suggest you try JJScdrom.
In config.sys I am using:-
DEVICE=D:\OS2\BOOT\JJSCDROM.DMD /V /F

Scsi is worse than IDE based cd rom systems for multi-session problems.
Which is why I was so desperate to try the early JJScdrom offerings.
My system is IDE and scsi mix.

I suggest you try it out.

As I said earlier, I cannot remember all the symptoms or conditions
of earlier and pre JJScdrom use, but it is absolutely essential
on my system. Without JJScdrom the ONLY cd drive that can consistently
see multi-session cd's is my IDE dvd drive. The 2 scsi cd readers cannot
and sometimes the scsi burner cannot either. JJScdrom enables this function
and is now fully working on all cd devices, wether scsi or IDE.

I also suspect that some aspect of the problem is due to being coded
incorrectly into the cd drive hardware itself.
Even different brands of scsi cd drives behave differently.
I think that JJScdrom is a software fix for these types of problems.

Hi all,

Well the search for a nice board that I can actually pay for continues. I may have found
one, but has Ali M1647 chipset. Anyone out there used this chipset before. I've read
the doc from Daniella but I'm a bit dubious about forking out for a board that may have
potential hassles. I'm not paranoid..... just poor ;-)

Subject: [os2genau] Ali M1647 chipsets update

Hi again

Having just looked at the Ali website I found that the M1647 (northbridge) has an AGP
driver from Ali for windoze. What does that mean for OS/2 anyone know? The
southbridge chip M1535D+ only uses Windows standard drivers for IDE and USB, and
Ali drivers for audio. I guess I can assume that OS/2 can handle the IDE and USB with
no problems (using either IBM drivers or Daniella's). Any help here would be good. All
this northbridge southbridge shite is beyond me.

Cheers
Gavin

Hi all,
I bought a Canon BJC1000 SP about a year ago.
It works fine but it does not have a black ink cartridge
so its a case of swap cartridges, put up with dirty brown
instead of black or have a second monochrome printer.

The omni driver runs it fine at full resolutions and colour depths.

It was about $120.00 Aus last year.

Greetings all,
As my printer has just died has anyone bought a new printer in the last 6
months?
What of the cheap Cannon, Lexmark, HP, etc work with OS/2?
Does anyone have a USB printer working? As USB only printer are becoming
common
in the bottom end of printers.

Michael

OK Bob,
I'll give it a try. The fact that your DVD drive could handle the Cds,
also reflects what I am seeing. But the CDs that I can't read although
multisession, have only one session on them at present.
I'll reply once I have tried it.

Subject: Re: [os2genau] Ali M1647 chipsets update

Northbridge and southbridge are simply what we used to call the
motherboards "Chipset". Depending upon the design of the motherboard
and which processor type (AMD vs Intel for example). These chipsets
have to be different.

As more and more things get integrated into these chipsets the price
and size of the PC can be reduced.

It all resolves around money, as usual !
