Hi All

Anyone know if there is a way to hookup two ESDI
drives in an IBM PS/2 70 386 ?

Hi Voytek,
It was actually me who mentioned installing a separate NAT program

I'm considering trying out ISDNPM.

Here's the info on it:

ISDNPM 3.x ist ein Dialer fr OS/2 & eCS mit Untersttzung fr CAPI 1.1/2.0,
DSL (PPPoE) und Modem. Es beherrscht NAT/IP-Masquerading und hat
umfangreiche Filteroptionen fr Dial-, Timeout- und Paketfilter.
ISDNPM 3.x kann auch als ISDN-Einwahlserver mit Rufnummern und mit
User-Authentifizierung genutzt werden.

I don't know if there's an english version as well but since I can read German
it doesn't bother me to have German code on my system, after all Germany
remains one of the biggest OS/2 users world-wide.

Decided to rem out the line G:\IBMcom\MACS\FXWRAP.sys from config.sys and am able to
get a connection using DOIP. However If I start Netscape first and then dial the
system crashes but if I use the dialer first, get a connection and then start Netscape
no crash occurs. Injoy doesn't seem to work. I used it last night and it stopped at an
error message:

Invalid fcs
TX: CONFIG - REQ

Then after that the DOIP dialer wouldn't connect. However it seems to be connecting
today as mentioned above. It's all very mysterious.
I took Bob's advice and installed the TCP/IP fixes last night.
Do I have to do any configuration in TCP/IP? All my configuration has been in the
dialers.

Ed,

I have followed your suggestions and obtained thedefault initialisation string from
WIN95. This was quite different from the one I had been using. I typed it into the
Injoy configuration and selected slowest and I have been able to get Injoy to connect.
Again I have to dial first before starting Netscape or the system crashes and says
there has been an internal processing error. At times this occurs unexpectedly also
when dialing and once when i pressed the hangup button.
I wonder whether I should delete Injoy and download another copy and reinstall it?

Regards

Alan

anyone interested in buying a second-hand Lexmark Z51 bubblejet printer?
Works well with OS/2 with all the same driver options as Windows users,
although only supported through the parallel port. It is supposed to
work with USB although OS/2 USB support is very iffy). Make me an offer
(privately if you want).

You'll probably have to define your PCs hostname
and the ISPs domainname along with their DNS and
backup DNS entries and perhaps (but not usually)
the default gateway/router.

You might want to add ATZ to the begining of
the modem initialisation string as you seem to
be suggesting that there's an intermittent problem.

adding ATZ will ensure you always start from the
factory default settings on the modem - then you
can see where you go from there.

Why would you want to launch the browser before your internet
connection is up ?

If you want to still use DOIP, perhaps you should start Netscape
via the Linkup.exe program, this will check and if the dialer is
not running, start it before Netscape. Simply give the full location
of Netscape and any parameters you are using - as the parameter
to the LINKUP.EXE program.

Thanks Ed & Bob for your help. I think I've got both dialers working properly now.
I hadn't put those TCP/IP fixes on properly. Read the text that came with them and followed
the instructions to the letter. Have not had any crashes since but I'll keep my fingers
crossed.

> Why would you want to launch the browser before your internet

Because I don't have to wait for all the Netscape blurb to fill the screen before using the
browser. The screen remains clean. Also saves time as the browser can be launching while I
am dialing.

Where do you find the LINKUP.EXE?

to look at docs that are in HTML, perhaps ?
I launch Netscarpe either before, or, after, or during dialing, it really doesn't matter

There is a setting to control that. There is no program required.

My WIn98 box is connected to the net via a Linux firewall but if you browse
the settings for the internet connection there is a checkbox that controls
whether or not Windows will dialup.

Personally I always made sure autodial was off - otherwise you end up connected
without realising it. If you don't close Outlook and it tries to get mail
it reconnects you :-( A good way to lose all your monthly hours.
