Admin Note.

Lastnight, the main UPS blew its output stage,
tonight, we had a power failure for over 1 hour.
Yep, UPS's are wonderful ;-)

I haven't seen any recent emails on this topic Bob,
or one that looks like a good result.

So, I'll make the suggestion you didn't want to see.

Have you tried browsing the Extended Attributes database
( EADATA . SF ) for the offending name?

IF you have it on a FAT file system
( or can copy/restore it to a FAT file system ),

THEN you can use Norton's old DOS DISKEDIT.

ELSE
  gee, I dunno
( I'd expect Chris Graham's Utilities to include a DISKEDIT
    equivalent, though ).

No, it ain't easy.

But, it might tell you why the folder name is found
when the folder doesn't exist as a directory.

Chris.

Of course!

It could only be in real life that implementing Disaster Recovery
preparedness introduces its own disasters!

Which way to the trees?
( actually, we've chopped tham all down )

Anybody for a slimepond?

How about a pristine dustcloud?

Hi all

Apologies for the outage over the past hour, our main UPS deceided
to blow its output stage, took a while before I smelt it :-(

Lets hope there are no power failures until I get it fixed, or
replaced :-)

Of cause it would have to be os2site dot com and os2 dot org dot au UPS.

Cheers

Subject: [os2genau] 5 1/4" mini-floppies

Hi,
Don't laugh, but I've just put a 5 1/4" mini-floppy drive in my IBM 310
Server, occasionally I need to transfer data from that format to
something a bit more modern like CD-R, :)

Problem is, I've got no floppies to test it with!

Anybody got any 1.2MB 5 1/4" mini-floppy disks, that still work, that I
could test with in Sydney?

Last time I checked there are a few available in the back racks of Tandy
electronics.

Found some software originals - if you only want to read ......

then you can borrow these, but I'll see if I can find any blanks
tomorrow.

Subject: [os2genau] IDE to SCSI

Hi.
I will be migrating my warpserver onto some new hardware.
I am considering moving from IDE to SCSI and would apprciate some
recommendations to ease the move.

I have partitions c: thru h:, warpserver on c:, another bootable
install on f:.
My thoughts are
1. to partition and format the new drive.
2. Install a working copy of OS/2 on f:
3. copy via network data on C:, d:, e:, g: & H:.
4. Patch the original (now copied) warpserver config.sys and add scsi
support from working f:
5. Boot to warpserver on c:.
6. Copy f: across.

Please point out the pitfalls, is the move to scsi warranted, I am
using 10000 rpm ibm drives with 5 yr warranty in another server and
they seem good.
