I have just finished reading through this group's mailings
endeavouring to find a how-to for Telstra cable and OS/2.
We do not have Optus cable in this area and I already have
Telstra/Foxtel cable TV. ADSL looks much more costly.
I can remember last year reading of the java front end,
but that site it seems has disappeared.

Ed Durrant, if you are reading this would you point my nose
in the right direction please......or Paul Smedley if your
alternate-to-java front end was successful.

I wish to use my OS/2 box as the gateway and have two
win boxes in the lan. The firewall I can manage... the
problem is I know nothing of the Cable setup ( I have
Ian Pilkington's pictures) with OS/2 and what to tell
the technician. If it helps I can boot this OS/2 box
into Win98se.

And as if they needed more bad publiciy, did anyone hear on th radio
a few days ago their heavy-handed tactics with one of those charity
computer recycling places?

The stupid legal people were saying that the charity had to buy *new*
licences before they donate the systems to the worthy causes (mainly
individuals) that they supply.

Gad how stupid! And YET people still buy their stuff!

Michael,

Where in OZ are you located ?? Adelaide ?? Sydney ?? Melbourne ??

If it's Sydney, the simplest thing might be for you to come by and see
it all in operation and leave with the code you need (It'll go very easily
on one floppy disk if you already have the firewall/NAT sitaution sorted
out).

If not Sydney, I'm happy to go through it all again, perhaps off list as
most on this list have heard it at least 3 times !

Cheers/2

Subject: [os2genau] Printing problem

Hi all,

One of our OS/2UGSA members has a problem where the printer does not
appear to be receiving the files for printing.

The hardware checks out OK. I have deleted and reloaded the driver and
it is on the correct LPT port. When a document is printed, the file
appears in the printer job status window but then disappears almost as
quickly, probably becoming more dust under the mobo.

Its almost as if it has leaked out of the system somewhere. In the dark
recesses of my mind I think I have seen this before but can't recall
what it is.

Any clues guys?

Sounds like a bung printer cable.

Orrr, your using a Bi-Di driver with a standard LPT port.
