Hi All

I think it depends on a few things, most of my servers have the
general apps with the OS, as I dont change this often but I
fully agree, keep your data on a seperate disk, or partition,
makes it easier to restore your data, and quicker, and more
likely that you will back it up.

I also have a backup directory on my data disks that copy
over net.aud, config.sys, and a few other config files from
my OS disk so that these also get backuped more often.

The other think I do, when I think of it :-)
is to run unimaint and creat a complete backup of my
desktop, I've only needed to restore a desktop once but
I am so glad I did have the backup, otherwise I would have
had to boot off floppy, and restore from CDROM, having
the desktop backup ensured I had all the latest changes, as
well as making it very fast to restore.

I do also keep all my "permanent" apps on F drive, this
drive is identical on every server/PC I have with OS/2,
it contains EMX, Perl, and a collection on Unix utilities,
this way I have one backup of F drive that looks after
every PC. I should probably put other "permanent"
software/utilities on there as well but the bulk of these
are not needed for every PC.

Cheers

On some of my systems I also like a partition on a totally
separate drive purely for frequent backup, in case the primary
drive siezes.

Subject: [os2genau] Reminder: eCS Install Fest Jun 16th

Hi everyone.

A reminder that we have planned a big day for Saturday 16th June.

We have a firm booking on the large SIG room at MelbPC 27 Wells St
South Melbourne.

Subject to Mark Rogers being able to produce the eCS CDs of GA
code, we will be meeting from 10am till 6pm.

Mark will install eCS on machines presented by their owners, and
will do demonstration run-throughs on the hour.

Since first announcing the InstallFest, we have had an offer of
Internet support from one of Mark's colleagues, so he won't feel as
if he's on his own :)

Anyone who comes on the day, and who has already ordered eCS from
Mark, please let me know so I can pass it on to Mark. He will bring
your copy of eCS with him and you can get a FREE INSTALLATION.

I already have a few replies so please keep those cards and letters
(and emails) coming in folks! "Everybody loves somebody
sometime..." (yeah and I'm even Italian - just like Dino!)

Anybody who has not yet ordered eCS is welcome to come along and
have a good look at it. Mark will have spare CDs and will happily
sell you a licence on the spot! (Sorry - no steak knives with that,
though)

Tea, coffee and biscuits available. Bring your friends, bring your
computer.

Yes, folks this will be "eCS to go!"

Subject: [os2genau] Trap 000E in module Sockets

G'day all,

I have Trap 000E's occuring after I connect for a second time without
shutting the system down. The system has just been re-installed and is:

	Warp 4 FP15 Kernel 14.065f
	Tcp/Ip 4.1CSD UN02001
	S3 Virge /DX /GX 4mb run through SDD se704 at 1024 x 768 at 16m
	Java 1.18 CSD XR04009
	InfoLog v4.3
	InJoy v2.3
	IP Monitor 1.01
	Netscape 4.61
	PMINews v2
	MR/2 1.75a
	Autoget
and ancillary other programs which might be running at the time but not
internet type.

The system tends to be up for at least 12 hours (the maximun connection
time before hard kick by ISP). There seems to be no consistent event other
then reconnecting as apart from InfoLog, InJoy and Ip Monitor, I amy or
may not be starting the PMNews or MR/2.

As I haven't seen any postings here or in the comp.os.os2.bugs I figure
that this a 'me' specific problem. So any help. suggestions or mystical
incantations will be gratefully accepted.

From the the Antipodes
Mark
