Thanks for all that have replied.

So far :-

The only label on the server is NETJet, the circuit board is anonymous but had an
Emulex chip.

Playing with search terms eventually found

ftp://ftp.emulex dot com/pub/

Trolling through pages of stuff, finally found HW reset.
Of course the PCB wasn't marked with RST like the graphic showed!

If reset with no LAN connection, ip is factory default, nm and gw are zero - TFM says
these setting are fine if printing off the same net segment (not across the router).
Reset with LAN connected and router serves settings ip 192.168.1.103 nm
255.255.255.0 and gw 192.168.1.1.
The ip is within the DHCP range of 100 - 149 but with the shorting sleeve in the run
position the DHCP server can't mess with it.

Finally got printing from XP

Able to telnet the server with admin powers but require (I think) a direct connection with a cross over cable
to make changes.

A software update is available to enable the printer menu to control server settings - least I think that's what
the docs mean.

Is having a postscript module in the printer of any advantage?
