Dear All,

I am in the market for a new OS/2 compatible motherboard and graphics card after the M2V-TVM badly overheated.

All suggestions gratefully received.

Are you looking to re-use components from the M2V-TVM or while you say
it has overheated are we assuming that processor, memory etc. is not
re-usable?

Cheers/2

Hi Voytek,

Just looking on a non-booted W2K volume here (from eCS), I used a couple
of serial port monitors, along with my Blazer UPS, which only comes with
Windoze/Linux software (Java). One was Serial Port Monitor from Eltima
Software, the other was Serial Monitor 2.0 from HHD Software, don't have
any URLs for either - lookup in Google!

Regards,
Mike

If you want to re-use components you could look at this board:

Hi Ed, Peter,

That's the board that I discarded as it was incompatible with eCS,
unless replacing all the onboard features (LAN/NIC/VIDEO) with PCI-cards
- it's back in its original box, in the cupboard!

Mike

Mike,

glad to see it's non-booted...

great, thks !!!

the first one I tried told me 'port already open', as if it's not meant to
be, but, the second one, bingo:

that's what Moto does on windoze:

AT+CGDCONT=3,"IP","telstra.internet",,0,0
OK
AT+CGQREQ=3,0,0,0,0,0
OK
AT+CGQMIN=3,0,0,0,0,0
OK
ATE0
..OK
ATS7=60
..OK
ATS0=0
..OK
ATE0
..OK
ATS7=60
..OK
ATD*99***3#

but, I'm none the wiser:

Palm connects, as soon as connects, phone says 'GPRS data connection'

BUT, I saw the '3' icon flicker back and forth to 'h' few times.

I'm almost on the verge of throwing it in, and, calling Palm for 'elp

(not that it matters that much, I'll be still constrained by 1.1 bluetooth)

anyhow, much obliged for the software pointers

I still don't know why I seldom get 'h' (nextg) icon, but, get '3' only, I
might take the phone to a Tel;stra place to compare

Hi Voytek,

OPTUS's YesG (7.2mbps) shows up here as "3G". Using Telstra's 3G service
with my Motorola RAZR V3x best I can get from Telstra is 2G (CDMA!),
when I can get a signal! From some locations, after NextG was
introduced, it used to say "Call FAILED", as soon as I it dialled a
stored local number and reached "0755" - my prefix here - even for my
home landline 2 km from where I was calling from!

I'm just waiting for OPTUS to introduce their capped plan for Wireless
Broadband and Mobile (like the current OPTUS Fusion plan), which should
be available in the near future, at which time - having already
experienced the 7.2 mbps on an EeePC 1000H, using a
USB-KEY-wireless-modem, and been delighted with the performance here
compared to my 8mbps service on ADSL TwoPlus from Internode (throttled
to 3 mbps by Telstra RIM), I'll give up the landline (Telstra), and the
Telstra Mobile, and Internode, with the combined total accounts on OPTUS
being significantly less than the individual items!

Regards,
Mike
