Hi John,

Maybe I have misunderstood this, however I am of the opinion that CUPS + 
gutenprint supports at least some winprinters.

for the moment I think I need to
get a document printer and be done
with it.

my main concern with the colour printers
is for that great day when I might be able
to print pohotographic image files from
my PC.

Should it happen, I'm thinking of sticking
to the separate devices approach
- you only lose 1 function if a machine
  breaks down
- you seem to be able to get higher
  quality in the dedicateds than the MFCs
  ( at least for the scanning function ).
