I had send you a private email (1 day ago) and it had been bounced.

Then there is no point in sending you private mails again, isn't it?

Ed is with Telstra Bigpond - they have a habit of deciding mail is spam
and it being rejected. Ironic considering Bigpond is one of the worst
offenders in terms of sending spam in Australia.

Cheers,

Paul.

well, I also have the a habit of deciding mail is spam, and,
rejecting/deleting, but, it's all based on a reason, there is probably 20
or so reasons that I'll declare mail undesirable, and reject/delete.

and, there a variety of quite valid reasons for rejecting valid emails,

sometimes, it's up to the sender to make sure his end is OK, or, his
emails will be bounced

we deny emails from not fully qualified hosts, no mx records, systems
listed on variety of lists, etc. In most cases, such denial is the fault
of sender.

so 'what reason ?' is the 1st question

FYI

logs indicate that tpg are accepting and taking the emails ok, and Alan
isnt responding from two other email accounts at other ISP's so looks
lile tpg is losing his email, or he is. In a seperate email he sent me what
he's not receiving my response to either, it appears he is receiving emails
from some people ok, but not from other people, like me.

Hi Ian,

Well I am experiencing delays, but ONLY in emails from THIS list.

It could be OptusNet (in my case) but I don't have the same problem from
anyone else. Or if I have I have, I have never noticed it.

This particular thread was for example, very hard to follow. From My perspective
YOU were replying to Alan but Alan's email replies were not being delivered to ME for
some time later.

If this problem is within my ISP (OptusNet) then I am at a loss as to why it does
not seem to occur with other email lists.

HTH,
Regards,
Robert Traynor (BobT).

Hi All.

FWIW, it seems I'm getting all my email (8 this morning) from OS/2Genau,
but it is very slow...as though each mail has a small (maybe 200kb)
attachment. All my other mail, including other addresses are fine.

I am trialling Thunderbird, but my main Client is MR2/ICE. Both seem OK.

Hoope this helps.

But of course it does not show the list name
as the FROM it shows the name of the poster
so once again one of these silly anti-spam
programs is useless.

Hi,

If Terry Kemp or Kev Downes receives this email, could they email me
privately to that effect. I know you both use tpg for your ISP as I do.

Yes, in fact German goverment departments have all bigpond accounts on a
blacklist - I had to use my own mail server to send them some
correspondance (I used to live in Germany).

It is also possible that tpg's email servers cannot read my DNS server,
as I only allow standard DNS ports (53) and only on UDP, were as going
through my logs, tpg are trying to query using only standard IP and ignoring
UDP. This is unusual behaviour for someone elses mail servers. I also
have no problems with telstra or optus, except the odd time Optus get
themselves black banned on SORB's :-)

the maintainers of os2 dot org dot au had not yet updated that domains secondary
DNS server address's either.

Maybe its time I/we think about setting up the list on os2site dot com instead ?
