You can also use "host", and "whois".
host comes with os2. ie

[D:\swc\internet]host mail.ecomstation dot com
www.ecomstation dot com = 65.172.141.90
[D:\swc\internet]

OR
====
[D:\]host 65.172.141.90
Can not resolve 65.172.141.90 to a name
[D:\]

and whois from hobbes or os2site dot com

or, as you get older, and start getting lazy just use SPAMCOP.
http://www.spamcop dot net

There are many sites available to glean information about IP address's
and/or domains etc.

you can also use several other available tools like

MXLookup
NSLookup
Dig

And have a look at
EXTERMINATING SPAMMERS STEP-BY-STEP (REALLY!)

Finding SPAM, or narrowing down an infected friend, these tools
all help.

Subject: WINMAIL.DAT and dealing with them

Found this site courtesy of Charles Wright columnist with The Melbourne Age
newspaper (www.theage/com.au/) who trades as the Bleeding Edge

http://www.fentun dot com/

The page begins 'If you're receiving e-mail with attachments embedded in
"application/ms-tnef" MIME content and you want access to the attachments,
you've come to the right place!'

It's a W95 and Linux utility to extract attachments from those pesky
Winmail.Dat which many emails drag along.

Anyone know if there is a port or equivalent for OS/2?

Best regards

So we're just all holding our breath - a bit like waiting for the Millennium bug to wreak havoc.

This is an Aust mirror for Hobbes so you can look in Hobbes at
os2/internet/mail/misc/tnef-1.0.1-emx.zip - I think.

Just d/ld it.

Quick look at the archive shows it's a port from Unix under GNU, needs
emx0.9d plus a gcc DLL available from OS2.RU, and it looks like a
free-standing .exe.

I would say you could add it as some external hook in most mailers, or drop
it into your mail directory and use it by associating files with it. Not
what you'd call smooth, but maybe not as bad as a 'kludge,' OK?
