Just the wierdest use of client/server terminology that I've ever seen; ie
it is backwards to our (and the rest of the world's use of it).

Think of it this way: It is a DISPLAY SERVER and the programs that use it
a CLIENT APPLICATIONS.

Works for me.

AFAIK - Realtek don't build cards, only the chipset and D-Link could even
be re-badging someone else's card. So in this case "oils are oils" !

Like the IBM 10/100 card is actually a rebadged Intel card.

Dennis - this just posted on Voice newslist, this seems to confirm that
Realtek should be OK.

Shame we don't have these "free" offers in Australia as well !

Aha - looks like Ian drops forwarded emails when they appear as attachment, I thought
I has turned that option off, oh well - here's the mail "cut and pasted":

From: Timothy Sipples <tsippleDESPAM at us.ibm dot com>

MicroCenter offers a 10/100 PCI ethernet adapter free after mail-in
rebate. Just pay applicable sales tax and, if not picking up in a
MicroCenter store, $5.99 shipping.

Here's the web address for this offer:

   http://microcenter dot com/single_product_results.phtml?product_id=0149773

Be sure to print out and mail in the rebate. Follow the rebate
instructions carefully, and keep copies of all records.

This ethernet adapter uses the popular Realtek ethernet chipset.
MicroCenter lists "IBM LAN Server" (read: OS/2 Warp) as a supported
operating system for this adapter. Realtek drivers are also available
elsewhere, including Realtek's own web site:

   http://www.realtek dot com.tw

Rebate offer ends April 27, 2003.

Subject: USB card readers with OS/2

G'day all

I'd like to get a card reader to read/write Secure DIgital cards. My local
Harvey Norman has USB readers called "6 in 1" sold under the Verbatim name
for $60-90 depending on which version of USB they support (1.? or 2.?).
Does anyone have experience with these under OS/2 (ECS)? If not, what
about alternative brands? My Ricoh digital camera won't send photos to my
OS/2 notebook via the USB port so a card reader would be a solution.

Cheers

But does the AIX end want AIX 3/4, Sys V, BSD or AIX 2 (RT) specified for
the remote server end?

G'day Steve,

Have you checked to see if Gphoto works with your camera?

The build at ftp://ftp dot netlabs dot org/pub/gphoto states the following Ricoh support:
	"Ricoh RDC-300" (EXPERIMENTAL)
	"Ricoh RDC-300Z" (EXPERIMENTAL)
	"Ricoh RDC-4300" (EXPERIMENTAL)

On the USB Card readers - I seem to recall reading a few reports where the readers which
support multiple card types are problematic under OS/2 - with only the first card type
working under OS/2.

However, looking through http://www.os2world dot com/usb/ there are some 5-in-1 and
6-in-1 devices that are listed as working.

You're probably better off with a USB 1.1 device as that's the most common chipset - and
you want a reader that complies with the USB Mass Storage Device class - generally if the
box says that no drivers are required on Mac OS or WIndows 2000/XP then you're safe.

I'd also take a look on ebay for a card reader:
http://cgi.ebay dot com dot au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3412554155&category=170
6-in-1 device $39.95 + $10 shipping

http://cgi.ebay dot com dot au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2923967269&category=1887
2 Secure Digital only reader $27 + $10 shipping

Hope this helps,

Paul

Apologies, just got home and reread your original email, and
realised your using lpd, so yes, you just needed to turn off the
control file.

Apologies about the bum steer.
