Hello

There IS an open source (no cost) RDP client floating around
called RDesktop. Here is the url:

http://www.rdesktop dot org/

It may actually be cheaper for the large bank to pay Innotek,
Golden Code or Netlabs etc to port RDesktop to OS/2, than to
pay for 600+ Microsoft RDP licences (or Citrix ICA licences).

Good luck.

with reference to the earlier threads;
browsers, Inet banking, and life in general

can someone explain this:

with N4.61 Java 1.8 I can connect OK to St George, and, use it;
BUT, I get the 'older' interface/feature set

so, installed Mozilla 12b, and Java 1.31: I still get the 'older' i/f

If I log on with IExploder on Doze, i get the up-to-date i/face.

is it a IE specific plugin ?

I thought, the whole thing is driven from an applet ?

so, IE gets a certain applet, non-IE, get a different applet ?

enquiring minds need to know,

My understanding is this:
Each browser has a function (just like the OS) where they
    return the OEM and Version.

Using this function, the server can then dish up the "correct"
version of what ever is required. This can be the applet, interfaces
    and other bits and peices.

The new standard on the web is XML and without being able to
read that, you will find that you will get the old interfaces.

If you read up on XML, either from w3 dot org or xml dot org it make sense.
XML is used in preference to HTML, but the browser must render
XML and "materialise" it back to HTML for rendering and displaying.

The material I read from w3 and XML orgs indicates that we need to
update our browsers to get XML support.

Hopefully this and a quick read at w3 and xml will help you get the idea

Subject: [os2genau] Netscape 4.61 and PostScript Printing

Hi All,
I've got a problem with netscape printing to a Lexmark Optra S
1855 PS 2 printer. Basically it doesn't.

I can see the printer and print to it from any other application.

The printer is a auto sensing PCL and PS 1/2 printer.

If I print to it from NS to the PCL printer it prints ok.

If I print to it from NS to the PS printer (level 1 or 2) it gets
downloaded, the printer whirs as if it is going to print out a page but
doesn't.

If I download an error handler, I get this:

	ERROR: undefined
	OFFENDING COMMAND: ic

	STACK:

	And that is it.

I have sucessfully printed to it in the past (pre WSeB???).

So do I need a newer driver (cann't find the version of what I've
got) or is NS broken?

	TIA,

-Chris

Only one problem with that logic Chris, the licences are based on
connections to the server and is controlled at the server end. So
getting lots of clients does not mean that they will all work at the
same time, if you've only got say 5 licences, then that's 4 users
plus console max.

Not quite. If you try it with Mozilla on a Windows machine, it
connects with the same Java as IE. It seems to be checking the
browsers useragent for the OS to decide which applet to use. I've
tried changing the useragent under OS/2, but, I only have an older Java
1.3.1, and, it crashes. I think the latest Java may work, but, I can't
get this as I don't have SWC or eCS. If you want to try, change the
useragent in the prefs.js, or get a copy of UABar, PrefBar or one of
the other Mozilla extensions that can do this on the fly.

I just tried Opera, which the agent as IE, and it gets the old
interface.
