Subject: [os2genau] JStreet Mailer

Hi,
Is anyone using JStreet Mailer?
Can it work with Chinese & Japanese character sets, viz:
 Chinese: GB2312
Japanese: ISO-2022-JP

How does it compare to PMMail?
The dopey people at PMMail neglected to support Asian languages, so I'm
looking for a new email program.

Daryl,
Hi, I used it for a while but found it a bit slow.
Depends on your Java performance.
I don't know if its Java 1.3 friendly though.
As for Asian characters, I don't know.
I find PMMail much faster.

Subject: [os2genau] Lost Programmer
From: brianbatkdfisher dot com dot au

Hi all,
Does anybody know of a current e-mail address for
Earl B Crowder, the author of the EBCSCHED program.

The contact in the program's readme is
75472.3314atcompuserve dot com
but this bounced back as undeliverable, receiver not found.

Any clues would be appreciated.
Thanks.

Sorry, can't help you with his whereabouts. But, if you what you want
is a WPS integrated task scheduler, then Drag Text has one. Like
EBCSCHED, it adds a schedule page to each program object. I haven't
used it so I can't tell you how good it is. I remember noticing it
when I tried Drag Text earlier in the year.

From the readme.txt -

Prior handling CD-RW disk that was not used before (fresh or clean disk)
it shall be formatted using /F parameter:

         FORMAT d: /FS:UDF /F

I don't know if if /F versus /L should make any difference, but since
it states it ........ I suspect, like you that SCSI drives may not
be supported.

Also try different makes of CD-RW blanks - I had problems with some
makes.

If the PSU is of the correct power rating, the PC layout and location
allows good airflow, is is BETTER to leave PCs switched on whenever
possible. Turning them off and on is more likely to damage the systems.

This has always been the advice from a hardware prospective. I suspect
your suuplier is a "dontnose nothing but windoze" supplier and we all
know from a software point of view with THAT "operating system",
switching
the system off and on will hide the memory leak and other problems.

I guess there's some Ini ("registry") file entries. - Have you tried
to do a full re-install ?? (Hopefully without overwriting your learnt

Daryl,
I have used polarbar since j street mailer.
It works fine and has a multitude of features that I rarely use but it's nice
to know they are there.
Accepting different character sets is in PolarBar so send me a mail in the
appropriate languages and I tell you what I see.

The only things you need to do to run Polarbar in addition to the installer
from the site is to use Dani's 128M memory fix if you have over 64 M.
Without this it runs like a dog on my K6 II - 300, (128M). With it, it's fine.
Regards,
Michael
