Graham,

I don't know your setup, but, generally, IP forwarding is only needed on the router PC, plus , some sort of NAT;
normal WS do not need IP forwarding

Subject: [os2genau] News Groups

Hi all

I've been reading the comp.os.os2.xxx newsgroups
via Google Groups for a while, and its a painful process
to post something, as well as Goggle only update there
mirror every six hours or so.

I've setup SLRN newsreader but I have a problem,
I'm connected directly to the net, straight into connect dot com dot au's
pipeline, so what can someone like me do about a newsserver
to connect to ?

And please dont tell me to use connect's news server, that
doesnt work for me :-(

Cheers

Once the firewall software is setup correctly, the Workstations only
need to hav their default router (sometimes called gateway) set to point
to the address of the NIC on your internal LAN (not the one going to the
ADSL modem).

You need to configure both cards in MPTS and TCPCFG2 BEFORE installing
the FX Communications software. The install program modifies the system
configuration to put it's special driver in and this stops you changing
things
afterwards.

NOTE: Some NIC Cards dont work with the FX Firewall !! I had problems
when trying to use an old ISA Intel NIC although it worked perfectly
under
OS/2. The FX install went without problems but no data passed across
the link. This could be the same problem you have. I know IBM cards work
OK (at least the models I have). I'd steer clear of SMC and Acton. I
don't
thinks there's a list of tested cards but you could check the website.

Hope this helps, if not email me your config files (tcpos2.ini setup.cmd
protocol.ini resolv2 and the Injoy file) off list and I'll compare them
with mine.

Cheers/2

Ed.

For what it's worth - I've used an SMC and an Accton card with Injoy Firewall with no
problems other than the SMC and Accton's wouldn't coexist if both were present.

Paul.

Agreed it's a matter of both cards working together.
