Subject: [os2genau] How to trick windows installs ???

Hi,
I don't know if anyone on the group is using ODIN but perhaps
someone with a bit of knowledge of Windows installshield can help.

I'm trying to install the PowerDVD 30 day Trial code under OS/2
using ODIN (this is a Win32 app). The install works fine until it
gets to the point where it needs to create a program icon, at which
point it simply hangs. To make sure the code is not corrupt, and to
try to get around this problem, I've installed to my shared drive
from my Win98 boot partition. The code installs and works under
Win98. When I try to simply run the installed exe though from
OS/2-ODIN - it reports that the trial period is over, so there's
obviously something in the registry that it's looking for.

What I was wondering is, is there some way to modify the Windows
Install shield process, to simply miss out the program icon creation
step. I can create the icon from OS/2 once the code is installed and
configured. Any ideas ??

Cheers/2

Ed.
