My recollection of that is that Paul Allen took "credit" for the
directory pathname char choice ( (MS-DOS 1.0 didn't have
sub-directories, so it surely wasn't Tim Patterson).  I also have a
dim memory that he apologized to the world for it and promised never
to do it again.
