While I'm not sure whether I think that would be a good idea (splitting
the existing community in two causes everybody to lose to some extent),
if it would drain off the top-posters from the mailing list by giving
them somewhere better suited to their approach to holding discussions,
it certainly would not be an unmixed negative.
