As would I (I was just allowing for the possibility that it might be
decayed firmware, not just broken hardware)... that would be harder to
replace in-kind if there were no backups, but it's still be worth it.

Yep... been in Winter and Summer... need to go in the Spring.

But since it has been revealed to be a 286 running Xenix, it still
might be either corrupt software or defective hardware... but one
still could easily replace in-kind for a lot less than the proposed
upgrade price... of course, another decade from now, where would one
get parts from?
