I managed a guitar amplifier factory (about 140 years ago). We sent a
shipment of 25 amps out to who, up to then, had been a fairly good
customer. They all went via UPS.

Customer refused the box with the invoice/label, but *kept* the other 24
boxes - which UPS was powerless to prevent, because we had not marked "1
of 25 - 2 of 2 - ... 25 of 25" on each box. It was (and is) a subtle
technicality that the [ex] customer used to get much free merchandise. Our
only recourse was to deny any warranty service - and we were tempted
(though didnt') to keep any amps returned by customers to us for service
from that batch. Yes several lawyers and attorneys general got involved -
that's how we found out *exactly* how that part of the law read.

Some times ya wins - sometimes ya hits da mat...

Cheers

John
