It absolutely *is* in the seller's interest.  But something being
in the seller's interest doesn't inherently make the fact that the
buyer try to avoid it unethical.

There probably are some kinds of behavior by bidders that I would
agree are unethical, but two bidders deciding to pool their interest
for one reason or another isn't it.
