I seem to recall that "little boy" was fairly straightforward, though
inefficient, and worked roughly along the lines you suggest (accelerate one mass of
fissile material towards another). Now, I've just got to get dressed when the
Feds come to ask me why I read Richard Rhodes. Then they'll find my J.D.
Salinger and it will all be over. . .

almost 6 months early, but remember Banned Books Week is coming up Sept.

“ Don't join the book burners . . . .” — Dwight D. Eisenhower, President of
the United States, 1953–1961.

"Restriction of free thought and free speech is the most dangerous of all
subversions. It is the one un-American act that could most easily defeat us."
--Supreme Court Justice William O. Douglas, "The One Un-American Act."    Nieman
Reports,  vol. 7, no. 1 (Jan. 1953): p. 20.

“Whoever would overthrow the liberty of a nation must begin by subduing the
freeness of speech.” — Benjamin Franklin
“Without Freedom of Thought, there can be no such Thing as Wisdom; and no
such Thing as publick Liberty, without Freedom of Speech.” — Benjamin Franklin
