The trash(1) 100/200 modem has a known and serious fault; it
forget the details but it doesn't do 103A correctly, and rarely
connects properly to modern multi-protocol modems. YMMV.


(1) said "trash" vs. TRS is merely a linguistic pun; the 100 and
200 are fine machines.
