11/23 or 11/03 picture of DEC/PDP logo

How do you know it was painted over?  Is it a label which is
adhesive-mounted to the surface which has been sprayed?  Or
is it something embossed into the metal.  If the latter, they
didn't have a color scheme beyond the color spray-painted
by DEC over the metal...
