After reading your explanation, I see what you mean.  Technically, I
stand by my statement; I would say that there will be unbalanced loads
between the ends and *where the centre tap used to go*, but not between
anywhere and the (now disconnected) centre tap itself.

But I do agree that I put it badly; from what I wrote, it does sound as
though there is no cause for concern if the centre tap is not
connected, which is false.
